What is needed:

  • either a mobile hotspot or a public network

  • in case of a private network, this network should be configured so someone from outside is allowed to connect (port forwarding, firewall blockage, etc.)

  • the user needs to have admin rights on his laptop or at least the rights to change adapter settings and enable WiFi sharing.

  • Windows 10 or newer is needed to be installed on the laptop

  • ethernet cable to connect the charger and the laptop

There are two ways you allow Etrel access to your charger:

In the case the first option doesn’t work try the second one.

First option (only works with mobile hotspot)

  1. Go to your charger's WebUI under Configurations / Connectivity / Ethernet connectivity and enter the following IP, Netmask, Gateway, and DNS.

  1. Save changes and reset the charger.

  1. Connect your laptop and the charger with the LAN cable.

  2. Then connect your laptop to the hotspot created on your phone.

  1. Open Network & Internet settings by right clicking your Wi-fi connection.

  1. The Network status tab opens.
Go to Advance network settings / Change adapter options.

You should now see two active network adapters listed: one for Ethernet — which represents the connection between your laptop and the charger — and one for Wi-Fi, which is your computer's internet connection created through your mobile hotspot.

  1. Right-click the Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties. Then switch to the Sharing tab.

  1. Tick the Allow other users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection checkbox, then select a private network connection.

  1. Click OK.

  1. The following massage appears.
    Confirm with Yes.

Check that your Ethernet adapter (the connection between the charger and laptop) has the right IP address: 192.168.137.1.

By following these steps, you’ve successfully shared your PC’s internet connection with the charger, and now an Etrel employee can connect to the charger via SSH.

Second option

Note*

  • When creating network sharing, all IP addresses must be in the same domain.

  • The gateway IP address must be the same as the IP address of the Ethernet port on your laptop. Similarly, the gateway IP address of the Ethernet port must match the IP address of your laptop's Wi-Fi.

  • To check your Wi-Fi address, open the Command Prompt by typing "cmd" in the Windows 10 search bar and pressing Enter. Once in Command Prompt, type "ipconfig" and press Enter to view the IP address of your Wi-Fi connection.

Recommendation

We recommend checking the network details of your Wi-Fi connection first (using the "ipconfig" command in Command Prompt), and then setting the LAN and charger’s IP addresses to ensure they are on the same network.

In the picture above, it can be seen that our Wi-Fi address is 192.168.0.104. This means that we will setup our connection as follows:

  • Charger IP: 192.168.0.250

  • Chargers gateway IP: 192.168.0.2

  • Local area connection IP: 192.168.0.2

  • Local area connection gateway IP: 192.168.0.104

  • WiFi IP address: 192.168.0.104

  • WiFi IP gateway: 192.168.0.1

This is an example of how you can share internet between devices.

  1. Go to your charger's WebUI / Configurations / Connectivity / Ethernet connectivity and write IP address, Netmask and Gateway.

  1. Save changes and reset the charger.

  2. Connect your laptop and the charger with a LAN cable.

Check if you have successfully shared your internet connection.

(“V skupni rabi”, means “Shared” in Slovenian language)

Check that your charger, Ethernet adapter and the WiFi address are in the same network (as mentioned before).

By following these steps, you’ve successfully shared your PC’s internet connection with the charger, and now an Etrel employee can connect to the charger via SSH.

Warning! Before installing, wiring, handling or accessing the charging station in any way, make sure to read, understand and follow the Safety Guidelines.
